Ballroom Classes - Tuesdays

Please note that the Ballroom night is currently closed while we look for a more suitable venue.  If you know of any good venues in the Newbury/Reading area, please let us know.  Thank you

Our "Ballroom Blitz" night is designed for people who wish to learn Ballroom & Latin dancing just for fun.

We don't study for medals or competitions, we just want to teach dancers, both beginners and experienced, in a relaxed and friendly environment.

If you have always wanted to dance, but have two left feet and no sense of rhythm, we will soon have you gliding around the dance floor.  You don't need to bring a partner or pre-book, just turn up on your own or with friends on any Tuesday evening and join in - this night is perfect for you!

   How does the night run?

  • 7.30pm - 7.45pm.  Doors opens before the classes start should you wish to chill out and have a drink before dancing. (no bar, please bring drinks with you)
  • 7.45pm - 8.45pm.  Here you join in the first of two dance classes for both beginner and improver level.
  • 8.45pm - 9.00pm.  The DJ takes over for 15 minutes so you can either practise the moves you have just learnt or just relax and have a drink.
  • 9.00pm - 10.00pm.  Here you join in the second of  the two dance classes which will be a different dance from the first class but again for both beginner and improver level.
  • 10.00pm - 10.30pm.  Again the DJ takes over for what we call the 'Freestyle' which is basically an evening social dance, including all the main ballroom & latin dances.  This is your chance to practise the moves you have just learnt in a relaxed, fun and safe environment.

FAQ's

1.  Do I need to pre-book?

No, there is no need to pre-book - just turn up on any Tuesday.

2.  I am a complete beginner, when can I start?

Unlike most other dance classes, we do not run set courses - we are open for 50 weeks of the year!  Beginners can start on any night and in addition we have extra dancers on the night called "Taxi Dancers" and they are there purely to look after beginner dancers.

3.  What if I miss a week, will I miss out?

As it is not a set course, missing weeks is no problem.  The different dances & moves are repeated so you just learn them next time around.

4.  Do I need to bring a partner?

No you do not need to bring a partner.  If you come with a partner and want to stay with them during the classes then this is ok.  Alternatively, if you come on your own you would simply move around and dance with everyone else who is on their own too.

5.  What type of music do you play?

As well as playing traditional ballroom and latin music, we are introducing more modern music into the night.

6.  What do I have to wear?

The night is informal so it's best to wear what you feel comfortable in, whether that be jeans and a t-shirt or a little more dressed up.  Being an aerobic activity, it can get warm so it is best to wear layers of clothes instead of a big thick jumper!

There is no need to go out and buy special dance shoes to start with however try and stay away from any shoes with a thick rubber sole or normal trainers as they will grip the floor and make turning/spinning difficult.

7.  How much does it cost?

Admission to the ballroom night is just £7 for two dance classes and a social evening.   Unlike many other organisations we do not charge a joining fee - membership to CWE Ltd is FREE.

We also offer lots of promotions and special money saving offers during the year.

The Ballroom night is run by The Complete Works Entertainment Ltd.
